Justice On Hold

Two determined career women cross paths in the high stakes world of media and public relations. Bonnie Vincent, competing for success in business, is brutally murdered, a victim of domestic violence. Newswoman Grace Gleason, fighting for recognition in the good-old-boy news network, is stalked by the killer as she pursues the truth about the murder. Television reporter Grace covers the gruesome killing for her station, joining forces with the Dallas PD detective trying to unravel the thorny case. But shifty, bar-crawling suspect Udo Holthaus wriggles off the hook when a politically ambitious DA refuses to prosecute. Hell-bent on revenge, Holthaus turns the tables on Grace by targeting everything she holds dear.

Inspired by true events, the novel weaves its way through a crime investigation, courtroom drama and Grace’s fight for justice. Justice on Hold is the story about how that journey changes her life.

Who is Grace Gleason?

Grace Gleason is a determined, gritty television crime reporter trying to succeed in the good-old-boy news business. Grace’s mettle is tested as she balances workplace discrimination, marriage, motherhood, a divorce and covering a disturbing domestic violence case for her station. Grace’s life becomes a living nightmare when suspected killer Udo Holthaus threatens everything she holds dear.

Crime thriller Justice on Hold is the first in a series of novels about Grace—the Grace Gleason Files. The second installment is “under construction.”

The idea for the series was born some years ago when Joyce Oscar was interviewing Donald Reichardt for a story on WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia. After the interview, they chatted briefly about the reporting business and their mutual interest in writing. Several years later, they met while walking their dogs in a park in suburban Roswell, where they discovered they are neighbors. They chatted again about writing a story about a news reporter, and their conversation led to Justice on Hold, written first as a screenplay and then, at the urging of Reichardt’s friend and mentor Valerie Clark, as a novel.
